Scotch Plains Kitchen Blaze Leaves Behind Ceiling Fire Damage

This Scotch Plains homeowner had fire damage made up of mainly smoke damage to their kitchen ceiling. The smoke went over the cabinets, up the wall and collected on the ceiling as seen in the Before Photo. This type of smoke is usually identified as “wet smoke” and requires the application of a solvent-based cleaning agent to assist in the release from the surface. Because this type of smoke residue often comes with an odor, cleaning agents that have deodorizing capabilities are often the cleaner of choice. SERVPRO technicians use a wet sponge technique on cleaning sponges attached to poles to lift away the smoke residue and leave the ceiling in the kitchen, “Like it never even happened.”
